Before we present the final seven motorcycles, please review the selection parameters presented in Part 1 of this feature. The main reason we put this selection together was to nudge you into going back into our archive of features to refresh your memory and possibly see beauties you may not have seen before. Here goes…

Sportster Cafe Racer

Every pro builder on the planet is trying to buid the ultimate contradiction; a Harley café racer. This example can stand up to the highest competition.

Triumph Bobber

IMG_5827

Beautifully executed, this is a no frills, “old school is cool” bobber which is ridden regularly by both husband and wife. Understated perfection.

Honda CX500 cafe racer

IMG_6713

We featured many CX500 custom builds. This particular one stood out because it retained most of its original components, such as the usually replaced petrol tank. Its unique metal fabricated flyscreen and tailpiece, together with a clever paint job make a relatively standard motorcycle flow into something special, Even the silencers are original parts but the angle of installation gives them new proportions.

Vespa GS160

When we first envisaged this blog, scooters were not part of our scope. After featuring the beautifully restored Lambretta Li 150 we were hooked and will continue featuring these icons. To make a selection was difficult but this Mod’s scooter gets the nod for being a true traditional scooter custom.

Yamaha XS650 springer

Internationally loved as the basis for all types of customs, it is a great pity so few
were originally sold in SA. We featured a variety of XS650 bobbers but this one stood out for us. Clever customising without blowing the budget.

Yamaha XS400 Brat Style Bobber

IMG_7024

We featured some lovely brat style bobbers. Many were replicas of international builds, but some were unique. This one has a little street tracker influence and appears more comfortable to ride.

Honda CB400 Four Café Racer

IMG_71352

A mind blowing little café racer. One has to see this baby in the flesh to fully appreciate just how cool this motorcycle really is. A 70’s icon dressed up in 60’s clothing without being butchered. Truly lovely.

So there we have it. Our selection for this year. If you do not agree with us, great. It means you have taken the time to look at 82 special custom motorcycles to make your own choices and we have achieved our goal. To all our readers in SA and internationally have a safe and peaceful festive season. We wish the same for all the builders of our featured motorcycles and look forward to presenting your next creations in 2014. Thank you to everyone that has made our hobby seem so worthwhile.
